Founded more than 80 years ago as the South Carolina Public Service Authority, Santee Cooper is a reliable, recognized leader in energy generation and water utility services.

Santee Cooper currently serves more than 2 million South Carolinians (directly and through the electric cooperatives and other wholesale customers) and is the state’s largest power provider. Santee Cooper supplies power directly to 27 large industrial customers, the town of Bamberg, the City of Georgetown, the state's electric cooperatives and the 10 cities of the Piedmont Municipal Power Agency.

Santee Cooper is one of the nation's largest publicly owned electric utilites. Santee Cooper is also a recognized leader in renewable energy generation and energy efficiency programs for customers.
