Don’t Say the H Word!
All has been quiet in the tropics this year and I really haven’t given hurricanes a second thought, until today.
I was cruising Facebook, when I saw an article pop up with NOAA (National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration) in the headline. As usual, I started clicking around until I ended up down a rabbit hole and right in the middle of all of the hurricane information I could stand.
Did you know we are in the middle of the Atlantic hurricane season? It runs from June 1 through Nov. 30 each year. That means we still have time for a storm or two.
Lucky for us and due to conditions of the ocean and the atmosphere, a much less active season is expected. Last week, NOAA forecasters actually lowered their Atlantic Hurricane prediction. There is now a 30 percent likelihood we will have a near normal season – whatever “near normal” means.
While this is fabulous news for us, being coastal dwellers, we must always remain vigilant and be prepared.
Unfortunately, even with the best preparation, power outages sometimes occur. Having a good phone number on record is the best way to ensure we can expedite your report and restore your power quickly.
Should you experience an outage and report it through our automated system, by calling 1-800-804-7424, the process will be much easier for you if we can recognize your phone number.
We look forward to hearing from you and helping you get prepared for any impending weather.
And remember, don’t say the “H” word and maybe, just maybe, we might miss out on one this year.
